Behind every thriving community are countless stories of resilient and determined people. Women play an essential role in food security, especially in developing countries. In most regions, women are responsible for food production, including planting, weeding, harvesting, and selling produce. At Ambokili Farm, most workers are women because we believe in empowering women.

Today, we spotlight three remarkable women who do a fantastic job of ensuring smooth operations at the farm. Their skills and knowledge are essential to the farm’s productivity. Additionally, women play a crucial role in bringing the community together. Here is some spotlight in 3 of Ambokili Women. Take a sneak peek into their lives and discover their incredible impact on the community.

Imagine Susan’s challenges as a single mother and farm supervisor. Hailing from the Maa community, her day starts at sunrise, ensuring her children are ready for school. She is committed to her children’s education and future. Despite financial constraints and societal expectations, she faces these challenges with grace, hard work, and determination.

At Ambokili, Susan is not just a supervisor; she’s the leader of our women. She guides our women’s team and ensures the farm operates smoothly. Her determination to navigate the challenges of her day is truly inspiring, and her work has significantly impacted the community.

Dorris

Dorris’s story is one of incredible growth and dedication. Coming from a different community, she joined our team as a sales representative and quickly proved her worth. Her work ethic and ability to connect with customers are exceptional. But it’s her trustworthiness that truly sets her apart. We rely on Dorris to manage our resources, which she does with integrity and efficiency.

In addition to working at the farm, Dorris is the mother of two young children. The kids enjoy spending time at the farm, which provides a safe space and nurturing environment where children learn about sustainable practices and connect with nature. It also helps them understand where their food comes from.

Furthermore, we are also dedicated to community well-being, which extends to our workers’ families.

She can now confidently take her kids to school, knowing she has a sustainable source of income. Lemaiyan has also applied her knowledge about organic farming to her home and planted flowers. Her story demonstrates how providing access to education and sustainable practices can create lasting positive change in the community.
